Eddie Redmayne, Alex Sharp, Sacha Baron Cohen | In Chicago in 1968, the Democratic Party Convention was met with protests from activists such as moderate students for a Democratic Society led by Tom Hayden and Yippie activists led by Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, which led to violent clashes with local authorities. . As a result, seven of the accused leaders are charged with conspiracy by Nixon’s hostile government, including Bobby Seale of the Black Panthers, who was not involved in the incident. What follows is an unfair trial chaired by belligerent Judge Hoffman (unrelated) and prosecuted by a reluctant but bound Richard Schultz. While their pro bono lawyers grapple with such opportunities, Hayden and his companions become frustrated with the Yippies’ outrageous antics that undermine their defenses in spite of the system, even when Seale doesn’t have the chance to defend himself in his own way. Along the way, Chicago 7 clashes with their political philosophies, even as they discover they need each other in this battle.
